My experiences working in the field of counseling, patient advocacy and mental wellness – despite the fact that limited up to this point – have convinced me to apply for the master’s degree in counseling program with an emphasis in Marriage, Loved ones, and Child Counseling).

Several individuals can be dramatically helped by way of counseling, but far too people at present have access to trained counselors for a number of reasons, which includes their inability to pay for counseling, personal reticence about the counseling process, and linguistic and cultural barriers. I think that I could assist to break down several of these barriers and work with both families and individuals to assist give them the tools that they want to move forward in their lives.

I have worked part-time as a Substitute Adult Function Model at JB Counseling and Consulting, a job that led to my volunteering to function at Hillsides, a home and rehabilitation center for at risk young children, where my application is still being processed.

At JB Counseling I learned firsthand the real distinction that can occur in the life of at-danger youth when an adult just takes the time to listen. While serving as a counselor there I had the following responsibilities:

I worked with at risk youth who have no positive outlets accessible to them.
I acted as an adult function model for children with no 1 home in the household or just have no father or brother.
I spent quality time with kids who come from neglectful or abusive families.
